The Thames Valley Cattle Club is a new initiative linking the proud Thames Valley Rugby Union back to the heartbeat of their rural communities, farmers.
As a fundraiser for the future generations of valley rugby players, farmers can rear a calf to donate to the union.
For each calf donated, calf rearers will receive a Thames Valley rugby season pass and a Swamp Foxes rugby.
On top of this, they will go into the draw to win two tickets and a night’s accommodation for the All Blacks v Australia Bledisloe Cup test match clash at Eden Park, Auckland on Saturday, September 27.
The union staff have produced this idea to continue to help grow, nurture, support and provide opportunities for young players within the region.
Funds raised will help keep their community representative programme strong in 2025 and support their age-group rugby programmes.
The staff at Thames Valley Rugby continue to come up with ways that they can enhance and improve their opportunities, and the Thames Valley Cattle Club is another example for their forward thinking.
Thames Valley Rugby Union is committed to developing its junior rugby systems and pathways by providing structured programmes, quality coaching, and strong community engagement.
“The union invests in grassroots initiatives, including school partnerships, development camps, and age-grade competitions, ensuring young players have access to the right resources to grow their skills,” Thames Valley Rugby chief executive Scott Penney said.
“By supporting local clubs with coaching clinics and pathway programs, Thames Valley Rugby fosters a clear progression from junior rugby to senior representative levels.
“The focus on player welfare, skill development, and creating a positive rugby culture ensures a strong future for the sport in the region. As a union we thank you all for your support in this area.”
