On Saturday, 7 June 2025, residents and staff at Tararu Care Home gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone—the 100th birthday of Janet Buchan, affectionately known as Jenny B.
The event was made even more memorable by a surprise visit from Mayor Len Salt, who arrived—fittingly—just as the birthday cake was being served. “It’s a wonderful thing to celebrate a full and long life,” the Mayor said. “I’m sure it comes with many, many fond memories.”
In a special tribute to Jenny’s Scottish heritage, Mayor Salt announced a musical surprise. Accompanied by his guitar, harpist Anna Dunwoodie performed three recently composed pieces, one of which was dedicated to Tararu village resident Elizabeth Jones. All had a good time, and those present will have many fond memories of the music and the birthday cake.
Many thanks to Mayor Len Salt for helping to make this event such a joyful celebration.

Congrats Jenny!
