The Paeroa RSA was filled with community spirit on Monday, 25 August, as locals gathered for the annual Cancer Fundraiser. Around 100 tickets were sold, supported by 16 volunteers who helped make the day a success.

Welfare Officer Carol Linton opened the event with a warm welcome, followed by guest speakers Tracey Wood, Cancer Campaign Lead, and Hauraki Mayor Toby Adams, who both acknowledged the importance of community support in the fight against cancer.

Funds were raised through the sale of daffodils, ticket sales, donations, and a series of raffles drawn after lunch.

Winners included Sheryl Dymoch and Janet Brown (money raffles), Glenice Williams and Carol Spence (lolly jars), Diane J. Smith (Agrisea raffle), Kay Trim (purple blanket), and Maggie Gribble (addictions raffle).

In total, the event raised an impressive $3,536. Organisers say the day was enjoyable for all involved and a testament to the generosity of the Paeroa community.
