A 37-year-old man has been arrested following a firearms incident in Coroglen overnight.
Police were called to Tairua Whitianga Road about 7pm after reports of a man seen with a firearm at a property. Officers attempted to engage with the man, but he did not respond to requests to come out.
A cordon was established as police continued efforts to communicate with him, later deploying tactical options including a drone and gas.
The man was taken into custody around 3am without further incident. Two air rifles were recovered from the address.
He is due to appear in Hamilton District Court today, charged with presenting a firearm or restricted weapon.
