Police are seeking information from members of the public following a serious single-vehicle crash near Whangamatā on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Tairua Road at about 3.50pm on May 31 after a vehicle collided with a tree.
Two occupants of the vehicle were transported to hospital, with one person sustaining serious injuries.
Tairua Road remained closed for several hours while the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination. The road reopened at approximately 11.10pm.
Sergeant Scott Tyrrell said inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are continuing and police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who observed the manner of driving of a black Toyota Aurion, or any concerning driving behaviour involving another vehicle, in the Tairua Road area between 3pm and 3.50pm on Sunday.
Anyone with information about the crash, the driving behaviour of the Toyota Aurion or any other vehicle involved, or who may have relevant dashcam footage, is asked to contact Police via 105, either online or by phone, quoting file number 260602/7611.
