Allo Allo 2 -French-themed favourite comes to Waihi

Waihi Drama Society’s latest production, Allo Allo 2 The Camembert Caper takes to the stage at the Boyd Rd Theatre in Waihi on May 8th. Running for 6 nights plus a matinee, this hilarious play is based on the hugely popular BBC TV series and all your favourite characters return for a fun-filled yet desperate adventure!

Set in wartime France the reluctant resistance hero and harassed café owner, Rene Artois, and his wife Edith are still trying to repatriate the two British airmen. In the meantime the infamous painting of The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies has slipped though everyone’s fingers and General Von Klinkerhoffen is demanding huge compensation which Rene is expected to pay or he can expect to be shot!

Scene from the play Allo Allo 2, featuring three characters: a man in a white outfit and wig sitting in bed with a woman in glasses holding a phone, while another woman in a trench coat stands beside them.

To add to Rene’s troubles he has his two waitresses, Mimi and Yvette, demanding his attention, the local undertaker Monsieur Alphonse, has designs on Edith, his mother in law, Fanny has the secret radio under her bed, Michelle of the Resistance has one wild scheme after another, all involving Rene, and he has no idea what the British agent Crabtree is saying in his mangled French! And of course, Herr Flick of the Gestapo and Colonel Von Strohm are making their own plans to get hold of the money!

If you enjoyed the TV series, then this show will be every bit as funny as you remember. Allo Allo 2 opens on Thursday, May 8th, and runs until Saturday, May 17th. Adult tickets are $30, and you can book online on the Waihi Drama Society website.
