The guide allows you to ‘follow your sole’ by choosing your path by mode of travel: hiking boot, sneaker, jandal, stiletto (yes), cycle, dog paw or horse hoof, in addition to searching via geographical area.
There’s something for everybody – short, easy walks around towns exploring art and culture, paths to gorgeous swimming spots, more challenging hikes with spectacular views, cycle trails or routes where you can walk your dog or ride a horse.
Our district has a wealth of outdoor adventures and spectacular scenery. This guide is packed full of ideas to inspire people to get active and explore our beautiful backyard. Importantly, it also showcases what the district has to offer visitors – whether from within Aotearoa New Zealand or overseas.
Our district relies heavily on the visitor economy, and we believe this guide will play a vital role in enhancing that visitor experience, persuading out-of-towners to stay an extra night or two and contribute to the district’s hospitality and tourism industry.”
Importantly, for ratepayers, the digital guide has a far longer lifespan than the old printed version. It can be updated at any time. It eliminates annual printing costs and delivers a significantly improved user experience.
The walks and rides featured are a mix of Thames-Coromandel District Council and Department of Conservation-managed trails, with a few privately-managed trails. Our Council is grateful for the assistance of the Department of Conservation in providing information and links to its trails. It also acknowledes the importance of iwi connection to, and ownership of, whenua | land, and contains a key section on taio| the environment and kaitiakitanga | guardianship.
