Support continues to grow for the annual Smoky Pallet Invitational Golf Tournament, which this year raised more than $50,000 for community groups in Whangamatā.
The event, featuring celebrities and sports figures from across New Zealand, has become a popular fixture on the local calendar, combining entertainment with fundraising for a wide range of causes.
Funds raised will be distributed across the community, supporting organisations including Waka Ama, the Menzshed, junior golf, Community Patrol, Surf Life Saving, the local Fire Station, the Rugby Club, and the Toy Library.
A portion of the proceeds will also go to “Friends of the School” at Whangamatā Area School, contributing to a new vegetable garden and a playground upgrade aimed at enhancing both learning and play.
Organisers Smoky Pallet said they were thrilled with the result and grateful for the ongoing support.
“We just want to thank everyone who came along, played and gave, as well as our sponsors,” a spokesperson said. “Every year they show up with incredible support, including Coromandel Homes.”
The tournament continues to build momentum each year, reinforcing its role as a key fundraiser for the Whangamatā community.
