Cricket: Kayley Knight back for the Brave

Seam bowler Kayley Knight has been included in the Northern Districts squad for this weekend’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield (HBJ) matches against the Wellington Blaze at Seddon Park this weekend.

Knight has been recovering from an injury she sustained last year, and recently made a successful comeback in the Super Smash, knocking over the Kerr sisters in the Super Smash Elimination Final at the Basin Reserve.

Knight’s previous appearance in the HBJ competition saw her return remarkable bowling figures of 7/35 against the Central Hinds at Pukekura Park last summer.

Sam Barriball has regained her spot in the squad, although will drop out alongside Shriya Naidu for Sunday’s match with Knight and Eve Wolland both available.

Caitlin Gurrey will be looking to continue her excellent form from Pukekura Park, where she notched up her 5th ND List A century. Gurrey currently sits in third on the HBJ runs leaderboard with 322 from 8 innings, Yaz Kareem (215) and Jess Watkin (154) ND’s next highest.

With the ball, Nensi Patel sits on 9 wickets, one clear of Jesse Prasad and Marama Downes on 8 a-piece.

Play starts at 10.30am on both days, with free entry for spectators. The matches can also be followed via the links below.
