Calling all book lovers, bargain hunters, and community champions – the much-loved Waihi Lions Annual Book Fair is back, and it’s shaping up to be bigger and better than ever!
Set to take place over King’s Birthday weekend, this iconic fundraising event is already generating buzz, with bold signage popping up across Waihi and Waihi Beach. Whether you’re after gripping thrillers, timeless classics, children’s stories, or puzzle books, there’s something for everyone at this community favourite.
Score a deal and support a cause
Every book you buy does more than fill your shelf – it helps the Lions give back. Over the years, funds raised have supported amazing causes including the Lions Cancer Lodge in Hamilton and the purchase of specialised comfort chairs for Hetherington House residents in Waihi.
“We’ve refined the event over the years based on feedback from our customers,” says Event Coordinator Doug Longdill. “People love the variety, but they also appreciate how easy it is to browse by author or subject – it’s a great experience.”
This annual event is also a special moment for the Waihi Lions and Waihi Leos, bringing members together to create something meaningful for the entire region.

Join us for Early Purchase Night on Friday 30 May from 5pm–7pm, where early birds can browse the shelves before the weekend rush. Entry is free, and books are $5 each unless marked otherwise.
